A Civil War re-enactment was held in Florida for the 150th Anniversary of the civil war battle on July 11, 2011.  Pictured above and below are a few of the many re-enactors who participated and the Monument in Florida.

Mark Twain & Ulysses S. Grant Meet During the Civil War in Florida

July 11, 1862

As Mark Twain would write about his near encounter with the civil war he is quoted as saying "I knew more about retreating than the man who invented it"    Grant would write in his memoirs of his first campaign of the civil war in Florida as saying "His heart was in his throat".  Story continued below.
